A Special Thank You

message from txst president dr kelly damphousse

Dear Colleagues,

The news I get to share today is one of the many reasons I love my job and working alongside all of you.

Tomorrow we will announce our official enrollment numbers for the Fall 2022 semester. Because of your hard work and dedication, Texas State is welcoming a record 7,574 freshmen this fall – the largest class in university history. It is no small order to recruit and serve this many new Bobcats. In addition, we have broken records for our freshman retention rate which grew from 77% to 80%. More of our students are staying at TXST and working toward life-changing degrees. These major achievements reflect your innovation, tenacity, and commitment to our students.

Student recruitment and success are everyone’s job. From making sure our campuses are clean and attractive, to helping new students find a parking spot and families understand financial aid, everybody plays a part. As a thank you, I have the pleasure of letting you know every full-time, merit-eligible employee will receive a $1,000 award in their paycheck on November 1, 2022. This is in addition to the one-time merit awards that are already coming in your October 2022 and April 2023 paychecks.

I know we all get busy doing our jobs and the work of the university, but please take a moment and tell yourselves and your colleagues congratulations for a job very well done. I am proud of you and look forward to many more accomplishments.

Sincerely,

Kelly Damphousse, Ph.D.

President
