Standing Together with Compassion and Support

Email sent to students, faculty, staff, and alumni on July 7, 2025

Dear Bobcat Family:

Like many of you, I spent the weekend heartbroken - watching the devastating flooding across the Hill Country and Central Texas. The scale of loss—of life, homes, and stability—is staggering. Our hearts are heavy, and we continue to hold those impacted in our prayers.

I want to follow up on the message I shared Saturday to let you know the steps TXST has taken to support our students and our community.

Our Division of Student Success has contacted all currently enrolled students with home addresses in affected counties. We have made them aware of the academic and well-being resources we have available, and we encouraged them to let us know how we can assist. We have also reached out to students registered for New Student Orientation, offering flexibility and support if flooding affects their ability to attend. Similarly, we are reaching out to our employees to remind them of the resources that are available to them if they have been affected by the flooding.

In coordination with state and national agencies, TXST has offered to contribute university equipment and resources to assist with search, rescue, and cleanup efforts. I am also deeply moved by the many Bobcat students, alumni, faculty, and staff who have already reached out asking how they can help.

At this time, we encourage you to work with existing relief organizations already mobilizing across the region. Looking ahead, we are considering TXST-organized fundraising efforts and events this fall to continue our commitment to recovery and rebuilding. I encourage friends who are interested in specifically helping affected Bobcats to join Beth and me in donating to the Student Emergency Grants Fund.

If you or someone you know is in need of help, please know we are here for you. We have prepared a webpage that includes a list of TXST services and support resources for students and employees. You will also find links to volunteer and donate.

There are no words to fully capture the pain and loss our neighbors are experiencing. But in these moments, we are reminded of our shared strength and compassion. Let us continue to stand together—as Bobcats and as Texans—united by empathy, resolve, and love for one another.

Sincerely,
