1. State of TXST: Record Momentum
At the State of TXST address in January, we reflected on a year of record growth, expanded access, rising research activity, and our historic move to the Pac-12. From student success to national visibility, Texas State is building real momentum and making a lasting impact.
2. Celebrating President’s List Scholars
Congratulations to the incredible students who earned a 4.0 GPA and secured their place on the Fall 2025 President’s List. It was a privilege to celebrate their dedication and academic excellence. These Bobcats continue to raise the bar for achievement across our university.
3. Winning Our Third Consecutive Bowl Game
Momentum matters in college athletics. Recent postseason victories, like defeating the Rice Owls 41-10 in the 2026 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, have helped shape the trajectory of our football program and elevate national visibility for Texas State. I am incredibly proud of our student-athletes and the foundation they are building for sustained success.
4. Sweeping the Sun Belt Championships
Congratulations to TXST Cross Country & Track for sweeping the men’s and women’s Sun Belt Conference championships. Championships at Texas State come with tradition, including a celebratory jump in the San Marcos River. On a beautiful February day, our student-athletes once again showed what it means to compete and win with Bobcat pride.
5. A Big Bobcat Day
When you have over 60,000 applicants for the Fall 2026 freshman class, you know TXST’s first Bobcat Day of the year is going to be packed. I’m so grateful for the faculty, staff, and students who volunteer to help our future Bobcats find their way.
6. Catching a Theatre Performance
After a busy day of sports, I caught a performance of "Treasure Island" performed by our College of Fine Arts and Communication Theatre program! We have a top ranked program in the world, and our students continue to show that.
7. Great TSUS Regents Meeting
We had another great Texas State University System Board of Regents meeting. I’m grateful that they approved our new $25 million ALERRT Center building and the naming of our Irvine Rasmussen Stadium.
8. Exciting Pac-12 Meeting
This Pac-12 meeting was probably one of the most exciting conference meetings I’ve ever attended. Plus, we had a 3.3 earthquake epicentered about a mile away from the Pac-12 headquarters.
9. Best College Town in Texas for the Fourth Year in a Row
For the fourth consecutive year, San Marcos has been named the best college town in Texas by Texas Football Life, and it’s easy to see why. With more than 60,000 high school seniors applying for Fall 2026 and record-breaking enrollment among top-performing students, Texas State continues to be a destination of choice.
10. Revealing the 2026 Football Schedule
Excitement reached new heights with the official release of our 2026 football schedule as we prepare for competition in the Pac-12. We look forward to welcoming our new Pac-12 opponents to San Marcos and traveling west to compete. The future of TXST Football has never been brighter.
BONUS: A Bobcat Valentine
Even amid a busy semester, it’s important to celebrate the people who support us every step of the way! Valentine’s Day offered a special moment to recognize family, my marriage to Beth, and the shared journey that makes this work meaningful. Bobcat pride begins at home.
