I’m excited to share that the Texas State University System Board of Regents yesterday approved our request to reorganize the College of Science and Engineering into two separate colleges: the College of Science and the Ingram College of Engineering.
This is an important milestone for Texas State and one that has been years in the making.
As our engineering and science programs have grown in size, reputation, and research impact, it became clear that each would be better positioned to thrive with its own dedicated leadership and strategic focus. This decision follows years of thoughtful planning and conversations with faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry partners, and many others across the university community.
The new Ingram College of Engineering reflects the extraordinary momentum of engineering at TXST. It will strengthen collaboration across our engineering disciplines, expand opportunities for research and innovation, and help prepare the next generation of engineers who will meet the workforce needs of Texas and beyond.
At the same time, the College of Science will continue building on its many strengths while sharpening its focus on advancing research, educating future scientists, and supporting the rapidly evolving needs of its disciplines.
This transition is being carefully planned and will not result in staff reductions. Instead, it positions both colleges to build on their success while creating new opportunities for our students, faculty, and research enterprise.
National searches for the inaugural deans of both colleges will begin this fall, with both leaders expected to be in place before the Fall 2027 semester.
I want to thank everyone who helped shape this effort. Your ideas, expertise, and commitment to TXST have made this possible.
Creating these two colleges is another important step as we continue building a university that serves our students, advances discovery, and meets the needs of one of the fastest growing states in the nation. The future is bright for science and engineering at TXST, and I could not be more excited about what lies ahead.
